SIDNEY CROXSON

Sidney Croxson was born in Rayleigh Essex in 1845 the youngest son of Edward Croxson and Sarah Fulcher. He was christened on the 9th January 1848 in Southchurch after the death of his father in September 1847. By 1851 he was in the Chelmsford Workhouse with his older brothers Charles and George.
In June 1867 he joined the Royal Artillery who were stationed in Shoeburyness, Essex and he served with them until May 1889. After this he lived with his brother George and later in lodgings in Southend on Sea, becoming a teacher and school board inspector. In 1908 Sidney was admitted as an in-pensioner to The Royal Hospital, Chelsea, but was discharged in 1912 to live with his brother.
