Conditional surrender From Edward Crow and his Wife Elizabeth to William Croxon
Also at this Court, the messuage aforesaid upon their oaths present that out of court to wit on the Fifteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight Edward Crow a Customary Tenant of the said Manor and Elizabeth his wife (the said Elizabeth being first sololy and secretly examined by John Mitchell Gentleman Deputy Steward of the said Manor for that purpose only appointed and freely consenting there to) did surrender by the Rod unto the hands of the Lord and Lady of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said by the deputy Steward according to the custom of the said Manor. All that customary or copyhold messuage or Tenement in Prittlewell then or later in the occupation of Joseph Shedd to which premises the said Edward Crow was admitted to him and his heirs at the court held for the said Manor on the Twenty Second day of May One Thousand Seven Hundred and Seventy One and the reversion or reversions, remainder or remainders thereof and all the estate rights title interest claim property and demand whatsoever of the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife or either of them of into or out of the said premises or any part thereof. To the use and behoof of William Croxon of Woodham Ferries in the County of Essex farmer his Heirs and assigns forever. Upon condition nevertheless that if the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife there heirs, Executors Administrators or Assigns or either of them did and should well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William Croxon his heirs executors or assigns the sum of Forty pounds with lawful interest for the same good and lawful Money of Great Britain on the Fifteenth day of August next following the date of the said surrender with out any Deduration or abatement whatsoever then the said surrender to be void or also to remain in full force or virtue.

Admission of William Croxon in fee under a Mortgage from Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife
Also at this Court the homage aforesaid upon heir oaths present that Edward Crow and his wife Elizabeth (the said Elizabeth being first sololy and secretly examined by John Mitchell Gentleman Deputy Steward of the said Manor for that purpose only appointed and freely consenting there to) on the fifteenth day of May which was in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight did out of court surrender by the Rod into the hands of the Lord and Lady of the said Manor by the hands and acceptance of the said Steward according to the custom of the said Manor (which surrender was presented and inrolled at the Court Baron holden for the said Manor on the said the fifteenth day of May one thousand seven hundred and Eighty Eight) All that customary or copy hold messuage or tenement in Prittlewell then or late in the occupation of Joseph Shedd to the use and behoof of William Croxon of Woodham Ferries in the said County of Essex Farmer his heirs and assigns for ever subject nevertheless to a proviso or condition therein contained that if the said Edward Crow and Elizabeth his wife there heirs, Executors Administrators or Assigns or either of them did and should well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said William Croxon his heirs executors administrators or assigns the sum of Forty six pounds with lawful interest for the same good and lawful Money of Great Britain on the Fifteenth day of August next following the date of the said surrender with out any Deduration or abatement whatsoever then the said surrender to be void or also to remain in full force .
And now at this court come to the said William Croxon by John Mitchell his attorney and Alledgeth that the said sum of Forty Six pounds or any part thereof was not paid at the day and time mentioned in the said surrender according to the condition thereof And that thereupon the estate and interest of the said William Croxon of and into the said premises become absolute in the Law and humbly pray to be admitted tenant of the said premises with the appurtances and upon such humble prayer of the said William Croxon the Lord and Lady by there said Steward and by the Rod Do now at this Court grant the same premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Croxon his heirs and assigns To Have and to Hold the said premises with the appurtenances unto the said William Croxon his heirs and assigns for ever of the Lord and Lady by the Rod at the will of the said Lord and Lady according to the custom of the said Manor by the yearly rents suits of the Court custom and other services thereof heretofore due and of right accustomed. Subject whereto of to redemption or payment of the said sum of forty six pounds and interest as aforesaid And so the said William Croxon was admitted tenant in Manor and form aforesaid And did seizing thereof by the Rod And he gave to the Lord and Lady for a fine as appears in the Margin And his fealty was respite
