WILL of Alexander Croxon of Ramsden Cray 1572

In Dei Noie Amen. ?/5/ Anno Domini 1572 I ALEXANDER CROXON of Ramsden Cray being sick in body but of good and perfect remembrance thanks be to God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manor and form thus following. First I bequeath my soul to Almighty God my saviour and redeemer and my body to Christian burial. Second I give and bequeath to my son Edward my new house Woodriddings with all the ground there not already given after the decease of Margery my wife, provided that my son in law John James Tull hast had any the sailhouse and land for the said two whole years after and immediately following the fair of St Michael Mass, next insuring the dare--. And my said son Edward shall pay within one year after his entering the said house and lands unto my three daughters Margery, Pricilla and Ellen the sum of thirty pounds of lawful English money. Item I give unto my son John this house wherein I dwell, Famonlie Rallid Pies with one exost holding to the said after the decease of Margery my wife paying within one whole year after his entering the said house and lands to my daughters above named thirty pounds of lawful English money. Item I give unto Margery my wife my standing bed in the parlour. Item I give unto Pricilla my feather bed in the loft after the decease of Margery my wife. Item I give to Ellen my daughter the cupboard in the hall and one jamed post by the --- hoad in the plot. Item I give unto my son in law John James and his two daughters 3/4 a piece to be paid after the decease of Margery my wife. Item I will that if him or my sons do die without heirs that my three daughters above named shall his sends and --- lands his I have given and bequeathed him. Item I will that if any of my three daughters above named do die before they come to the decease of Margery that the others shall share and have her part. All the rest of my goods and movables my debts paid and my funeral defrayed, I give and bequeath to Margery my wife whom I ordain and make my sole executrix and Thomas Croxon my cousin overseer to this my last will and testament made in the presence of Thomas Crabbe, Robert Slacke, and Reynold Nelson.
