WILL of John Croxton of Ramsden Crays 1575
In the name of God Amen. The 12th day of October anno domini 1575. I John Croxton of Ramsden Crays, sick in body but in good and perfect memory, thanks be to God, make and ordering this my last will and testament in manor and form following . First I bequeath my soul to almighty God my saviour and redeemer and my body to Christian burial. Item I give and bequeath unto my eldest son John after the decease of Joan my wife this house where now I dwell and the two others belonging unto the farm the one called Whind Ferld and the other marked with one little meadow Flatt paying out of the said house and lands the sum of £12-13s-4d within three years after his entering unto the farm that is paying unto his brother £12-13s-4d and unto his sisters Margery and Joan to each of them 11/8d. item I give unto my son Edward all that my house and lands called Hawpes after the decease of Joan my wife paying out the same within three years after his entering unto the same said daughters Margery and Joane to each of them the sum of £3 of good and lawful English money. Item I will that if any of my children die before the executor of the said money then the part of the deceased be parted among the others equally. Item all the rest of my goods my legacies being paid and my funeral defrayed I give to Joane my wife towards the bringing up of my children. Item I make Joane my wife my sole executrix of this my last will and testament. Written in the presence of Rob----. |
