WILL of Margery Croxon of Ramsden Crays 1573
In the name of God Amen. The 27th of may anno domini 1573, I Margery Croxon Of Ramsden Crays being sick and weak in body but of good and perfect remembrance, thanks be given unto God do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manor and form following. First I give and bequeath my soul unto Almighty God my saviour and redeemer and my body unto Christian burial----. I give and bequeath to Margery my daughter the best bowl and one vessel, one great platter, one pewter dish of the greatest set on great entry to the plot, two petticoats, my shepre russlet support, my new russlet----. Item I give unto Pricilla my daughter one brown pot and one vessel of that years wearing, one great platter and a pewter dish, my best cassock and the little hut-- in the plot and one brass pot. Item I give unto my daughter Ellen one ---------- and one bullock of that year and a great platter and a pewter dish of the great set, my best brass pot, my best white cassock, my best -- and my two pillows. Item I give my daughter Ann the --- by the ryabe door, two pewter dishes, a porrager and ---- for her child. The rest of the pewter dishes I will that all being divided amongst my three daughters first named and john. Item I give to my daughter Ellen one pair of sheets and one pair of sheets to my daughter Ann and the rest of my sheets I give to my son john to whom I give my cover and mirror. And all my --- apparel. I give to Margery my old winsiett petticoat and my old furs to goodwife ----- . Item I will that my son John shall pay or cause to be paid to John Sayer the sum of 53/4d of good and lawful money all the rest of my goods and movable unbequeathed my debts and bequests paid and my funeral defrayed I give and bequeath to my son John ----- I make and order him sole executor of this my last will and testament and order Thomas Roberts to be overseer.
