WILL of Robert Croxon of Stow Maries 1642
In the name of God , Amen. The 1st day of June in the year of our Lord 1642 . I Robert Croxon of Stow Maries in the county of Essex . Yeoman . Being whole of body but or perfect memory grateful be to Almighty God do make and declare this to be my last will and testament in manor and form following that first I recommend my soul unto the hands of my Merciful Saviour Jesus Christ by who the --- blessed, my hope being that my sins be washed away and my body be cast aside from where it was taken. And fort hat portion of worldly goods Lord of Grace amassed and endowed shall I Richard --- here after following. Item. I give and bequeath all my free land , copyhold land part thereof lying in Purleigh and part in Woodham Mortimer both being in the county of Essex afore said equally to b divided among my three daughters Mary Croxon Katherine Croxon and Deborah Croxon after full and complete age of one and twenty years. Item I do likewise do give unto my three daughters Mary, Katherine and Deborah twenty pounds each being lawful sums of aforesaid pounds equally to be paid at the lawful age of the aforesaid persons. And if it shall happen that either of them shall depart this life before the aforesaid age of one and twenty years my will is that the estate be equally divided out the share both of lands and money. Item . I bequeath unto my daughter Mary Croxon one gold ring , and unto my daughter Deborah Croxon one gold ring and unto my daughter Katherine Croxon the silver --- bowl at the afore said age, lastly the rest of the monies, goods and chattels my debts paid and sums all safe guarded I give and bequeath unto my loving wife Mary Croxon whom I make and appoint sole executor of this my last will and testament and also guardian unto these my three Daughters to them being themselves of full and legal age of one and twenty years . Guardian of my lands . and of the aforesaid grounds , and shall or may ---- my will my --- and meaning is that if my wife Mary Croxon therefore shall marry again upon my decease before the children -- be of full age of one and twenty years that then the rent of my lands and use of holdings being the total --- grounds before the day of the marriage unto the guardians of these my three daughters whom --- shall---- on fulfilment bond for her preferment and payment of the aforesaid rents of my land and of the monies together with the --- principal being the sum of --- in pounds to be made and put into the hands and keeping of living brother in law William ---- whom I nominate and entrust this my last will and testament . Item my will be --- is that if my loving wife Mary Croxon shall and ----- allow ------of ---- my lands that she pay out of ---- my goods, lands and chattels left, bequeathed unto --- pounds ---- unto my three daughters Mary, Katherine and Deborah before named--- be put in the fulfilment unto the --- of this my last will aforesaid payment of twenty pounds after my decease.
