Transcript of the Will of Thomas Croxon Rector of the Parish of
Little Wenham Suffolk
Died May 1613

In the name of God Amen. I Thomas Croxon of Little Wenham in the countie of Suffolk, dyoces of Norwiche, clark, being feeble in bodye but whole in mynde ( prayz be to God ) doe make this my last will and testament written with myne owne hand in manner and forme following. Firste I bequeathe my sowle to Almightie God , and my bodye to the earthe from whence it came. Item: I give to John Croxon my eldest sonne fortie shillings to be paid him within five monthes next after my decease. Item: I give unto Edmund Croxon my youngest sonne five pounds thirteen shillinge and fower pence to be paid him when he shall commence Master of Arts or at the age of twentie fower yeres which shall come first. Item: I give unto my saide sonne Edmund all my bookes and my deske in my studye. Item : I will that myne executrix shall pay unto my saide sonne Edmund yearlie the some of fower pounds of lawfull Inglyshe money towards his maintenance in the Univeisitie of Cambridge till he shalbe Master of Arts if he remaine there soe longe whiche money I will shalbe payd him quarterlie by evyn portions. Item: I give unto Elizabeth Croxon my eldest daughter five pounds thirteen shillings and fower pence at or upon the daye of her marriage or the age of twentie and one years whiche shall come firste. Item: I give unto my saide daughter my ----- my second besste ------ pewter platters ------ after the decease of Anne my wife. Item: I give my youngest daughter five pounds thirteen shilling and fower pence sterling to be paide her on the daie of her marriage or the age of twentie and one years whiche shall come firste, and if any of my saide daughters shall dye before the saide legasies be due then my will is that the portion ------- and given them shallbe equallie divided between my sonne Edmund and the other daughter surving. Item: I give unto my daughter Mary my best bedd as it standeth viz with a fether bedd too pillows too blankets my best coveringe the green curtens as now they are upon and above the saide bedd or elles six pounds to be paid her person after the decease of Anne my wife. The rest of my goodes unbequeathed I give unto Anne my wyfe whome I make my sole executrix of this my last will and testament desiring my twoo brethren in lawe John and Edmund Cratmore ( or Cratinor ) in the Countie of Essex yeomen to be overseers to this my last will and testament and to bale sufficient bond of myne executrix for the performance of these severall legasies to my saide children if she shall happen to marrye again. In witness herewith I have putt my hande and seale fourth of December 1612
