WILL of William Croxson of Woodham Ferrers 1800
In The Name of God Amen. I William Croxson of Woodham Ferris in the county of Essex. Farmer being in health of body and in sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding (praised be God). Do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manor and form following (that is to say) I give and devise unto my beloved wife Mary Croxson All that customary or copyhold messuage or tenement with the yards, gardens and appurtenances thereunto belonging situated, lying and being in Prittlewell in the said county of Essex late in tenure or occupation of Edward Crow and now of Robert Shole his under tenants and assigns. And also all that copyhold cottage or tenement lately or sometime built upon part of a parcel of ground lying near Giles Grove containing half an acre more or less with appurtenances situated, lying and being in Haseley in the said county and holden of the Manor of Haseley Hall and now in the tenure or occupation of Robert Gage and Richard Turner their undertenents or assigns. To hold the same unto my said wife and her assigns for and during the term of her natural life and from and immediately after her decease I do hereby authorise and impower my son Samuel Croxson and his heirs to sell and dispose of the same as soon as conveniently can be after my said wife's decease either by private contract or by public auction and for facilitating the sale of the same I do thereby will and direct that the receipt of my said Trustee or his heirs for the purchase money shall be a good and sufficient discharge to the purchaser or purchasers of my said estate and that I shall not be incumbent on such purchase money nor shall he she or they be accountable for the nonaplication or misapplication of the same or any part thereof . And the neat money arising from the sale of my said estate and all the rest residue and remainder of my personal estate whatsoever or of what kind or nature so ever which I will and direct shall be converted into cash as soon as conveniently can be after the decease of my said wife who is to have the use thereof (after the payment of all my just debts, funeral charges and the costs and expenses that my said trustee and executors shall be put unto in and about the trust thereby in him reproved. I give and bequeath unto and amongst all my said children equally to be divided between them share and share alike except my youngest son Thomas Croxson who is to have forty pounds more than the rest. And I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my said son Samuel and my said wife executors of this my last will and do hereby make void all former wills by me heretofore made. And I do publish and declare this to be my last will and testament. In witness thereof I the said William Croxson the testator of this my last will and testament contained in two sheets of paper have to each of them my hand and seal this thirteenth day of November in the fortieth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain.
